The snooze button guide for the young professional

Written on :

Has this happened to you before? You decide to take a quick nap and set your alarm for a defined time so you don't oversleep. You tuck into bed and you're out like a lamp beckoning sweet dreams. and it's a really good nap. You haven't had one like this in a while and then Grrrrrrrring..... You hear it, the dreaded alarm sound. Oh no, is it time to wake up already? You think to yourself. But I just started really enjoying my nap now. Where did the time go? Arrrgggh (Yeah, that's what I usually say, Lol) You figure you have two options. Hit the snooze button and continue with your nap or get out of bed to continue with your activity for the day and try not to feel crappy Which option would you choose? Hmm...you probably said it depends. I absolutely understand and in fact, i agree. But, hold on a sec, what if the option you choose would determine the rest of your life? Would that change your answer? I bet it would. You see, that's what we do too often. We get to a defining moment in our lives, we either recognize it  and take action or we don't and hit the snooze button. It's so bad that some of us have become snooze button addicts. I used to be one literally. (emphasis on 'used', please don't judge me and i won't judge you..Lol) Here's how you might be a certified 'snooze button addict';(drum roll) How can you break this 'snooze button addiction'? Here are three (3) brain builders to help you break the snooze button habit i.e. go slow habit, stay clueless habit etc. Wake up and smell the coffee Caffeine acts as a powerful stimulant to our brains and nervous system, but did you know this stimulating effect can be triggered just by smelling a cup of coffee? Scientists tested the theory on rats and found that a sniff of coffee activates several genes in the brain. Hmm..in this case, the coffee you need is the possibility of living the life of your dreams. Sniff sniff....That should wake you up from your slumber. Anytime you feel like going back to sleep mode rather than taking necessary positive actions on your life. Let the possibility of actually creating a better life wake you up. Stop managing an uncomfortable situation Try not to get comfortable with discomfort. Trying to be comfortable with discomfort is like trying to fall asleep while sweating profusely in a heated room. During  private consultation sessions with some of my clients, I discovered the principal reason people try to manage uncomfortable situations due to two reasons; (a) they don't believe they can get anything better than what they have currently. (b) they are simply scared. What you believe is what you get.  Change your perspective and stop managing. Take a step towards seeking out and getting a better deal from life. Step out of your comfort zone When you have a strong sense of purpose, It  spurs you into taking action like getting out of bed rather than hitting the snooze button. Set goals that are bigger than yourself. That way you can actually attract like-minds who can help you fine tune your dreamy ideas. and now, here comes the best part. If all of these brain builders still don't help. You need a snooze button addiction expert. Guess who? Choose to be remarkable Tomie
